Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and mobile get huge improvements with new Xbox update
- The April Xbox update is rolling out to all players now
- Xbox consoles get Stream Your Own Game support, new ways to free up space, and Game Hubs
- The mobile app will now let you purchase games and DLC and redeem perks
"By unifying Xbox remote play and Xbox Cloud Gaming on Xbox.com, we’re able to support more devices, open access to the store on the Xbox app on mobile, and make it easier for our teams to optimize the streaming experience and build new features going forward," Microsoft says.
Speaking of the store on mobile, players using the beta Xbox app on iOS and Android will now be able to buy games and add-on content, join Game Pass, and redeem Perks via the app, with a full rollout planned soon. Microsoft says that a buy button will be displayed on game pages if you have your payment details saved, making it easier to purchase new titles or in-game content.
Looking back at Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, Microsoft is adding a new way to easily free up space. Alongside the currently displayed unused DLC and shrinkable games, you can currently see when clearing space, you'll now be shown duplicate games and games you no longer have access to, such as Game Pass titles. To check your storage, head to My Games & Apps, click on Manage, and head to the Free up space option.
Finally, all players on console will now be able to access Game Hubs, which will show relevant information about a game, such as your player stats, achievements, recent captures, your friends who are playing it, available DLC, and more.
"For a subset of players, Game Hubs will appear whenever a player selects a game from their recently played games or installed games lists," Microsoft says. "The default focus in Game Hubs is always on the Play button, so players can jump right into the action with a quick double-tap from the game tile to start playing."
