The best vocations in the game are the Hero, Martial Artist, Thief, and Sage. The Hero is well balanced with powerful exclusive spells, the Martial Artist has an increased crit rate, the Thief gets extra monster drops, and the Sage can flexibly use both the Mage and Priest's spell list.
Make sure that you recruit female characters since the Shimmering Dress, the best armor in the game, can only be equipped by females.

S Tier - Best Vocations
Vocation | Explanation |
---|---|
Hero | The Hero will always be in your party and cannot have their class changed. However, they're still one of the best characters thanks to their exclusive equipment and diverse spell pool. They also get powerful exclusive spells like Kazap and Omniheal. |
Martial Artist | Martial Artists have the potential to have the highest damage output in the game since they get an increased crit rate at higher levels. They're also great defensively, and can even surpass the Warrior depending on what armor you have available. |
Thief | Thieves are the best class when it comes to farming since they can give extra monster drops at the end of combat. This makes them amazing for farming items from monsters, especially stat seeds. Also, they get a bunch of useful utility spells, like TipToe and Seek Out for example. |
Sage | Sages are arguably the best class in the game since they learn the spell list of both the Mage and the Priest. The only downside is that they take longer to level up than other classes, but it's only a minor inconvenience considering how strong they are. |
A Tier
Vocation | Explanation |
---|---|
Warrior | Warriors are considered to be the best defensive class when equipped with the best armor, but are often lacking in damage since you'd rather give their best weapons to someone else. However, they're still one of the best characters in the game, and can arguably be put into S-Tier depending on the rest of your party. |
Mage | Mages are offensive powerhouses but lack the defenses to keep them safe. Once they've learned all of their powerful spells, you can change their class into something more durable like a Warrior or Fighter to make up for their lack of defenses. |
Priest | Priests have the opposite problem of Mages where they can keep themselves and the team alive, but they lack damage. They're one of the best candidates to become a Sage so they can also get the offensive spells of a Mage. |
Monster Wrangler | Monster Wrangler specializes in dishing out AoE attacks that can target multiple enemies. The only problem is that its AoE attacks have fixed damage outputs, so it would be better to enhance it with a personality that increases its Agility and Vitality to increase ites viability in battle. |
B Tier
Vocation | Explanation |
---|---|
Merchant | Merchants are great for farming gold but are weak when compared to the other combat-oriented characters. While they may be good in the early stages of the game, they'll eventually get outscaled by the other vocations later on, especially Thieves who are also great for farming. |
C Tier
Vocation | Explanation |
---|---|
Gadabout | Gadabouts are by far the worst class in the game since they don't follow your commands in battle and they have horrendous stats outside of Luck. The only upside is that they can become a Sage without the need for a Zen Scroll, but without that, there's no use for a Gadabout. |
